Overall a very good, well deserved 5-4 victory away against Codicote last night. Youngy wasn't there so i'll take a turn with
a few notes on the game...
Having to travel so far for a midweek game caused us a few problems with our preparation with players arriving late in drips
and drabs due to the Tuesday night traffic. This didn't affect the players however who showed a great attitude in the short
warm-up and looked fit and ready to get the game underway.
Our attacking play in the first half was breathtaking at times, showing real improvements with the speed of our passing and
the composure in front of goal. Goals from Griggo, Sam, Calum and Lol saw us 4-2 up at half time.
We let Codicote back into the game in the second half and didn't keep possession of the ball well enough. In fact, we resorted
to playing the long ball game which is unlike us. Griggo's second goal of the game was the difference however as it finished
5-4.
For the neutral, it was probably the most exciting game we've participated in this season, but for me, it was a night of mixed
emotions with moments of brilliant individual and team play, but mixed with individual errors that could have cost us the
game.
Overall however, putting things into perspective, you would take an away midweek win however it comes against a decent Codicote
side, who are the leagues top scorers. We're showing some real belief of late and we're on a very good league run which has
taken us to fourth in the table. COYRs!
MOM: Martin Griggs. Two goals and two assists. Brilliant display and maturing into a very good player at this level. |

Div 1 Cup Final, Risboro vs Kings Langley.
Too good...........With an attendance of over 300 watching, 14th place Risboro were to take on 2nd place Kings Langley, who,
in recent, had been granted promotion to the Prem. Risboro started the more positive and had better possession but didn't
create any good chances. Kings Langley played their way into the game and took the lead around the 25th minute mark. The sucker
punch came 10 minutes later when one of the Langley players score volley from 25 yards out, what a strike. half time 0-2.
Rangers made a change at half time brining on a 3rd striker, it was now or never. Once again Risboro played a lot of football
in the oppositions half but couldn't find a break through. Kings Langley scored the 3rd a couple of minutes from time, Rangers
caught out pushing players forward. Unfortunately the best team won. Kings Langley didn't win the league but were probably
the best team we played this season. Does runner up in the divisional cup make us the 2nd best team in the league......of
course it does. MOM: Justin worked his nuts off all game but I am giving it to Tubby, he was in defence when needed, in midfield
for support and started many attacking moves and was also an attacking threat, all from full back. I feel we can all be proud
of this seasons achievements. |

Div 1, Southall vs Risboro
Final league match......
With 5 players out injured on top of the long term absentees, Risboro fielded a slight weakened team. All the players that
came in did themselves proud. It was a hard fought game, Rangers hitting the post in the 1st half when Shrimps let rip from
25 yards and the rebound fizzing out to Griggo who blazed over. half time 0-0.
The 2nd half again was very even, Shrimps went through on goal only to be brought down in the box, shockingly the referee
waved play on. Shrimps then had another chance tipped over by the Southall keeper with a finger tip save. Towards the end
of the game Southall struck the bar with an awesome attempt from 30 yards out. Full time 0-0.
MOM: Bobby thought Griggo but even though he had a fine game todays award goes to Joel who played very well and was very influential
at left back. |

Div 1, Arlesey vs Risboro.
One of those days...........
It didn't start well as Rangers found themselves 1-0 down after 5 minutes. A lack of concentration allowed Arlesey to capitalise.
It was 2-0 shortly after with the home side converting a penalty. Risboro had some luck of their own when Shrimps scored from
close range following a mistake by the keeper. Risboro created a few good chances and should equalised. Half time 1-2. After
the interval Rangers took the initiative, changing formation and playing a more direct style. It was Arlesey that scored next,
this gave Risboro a lift and the fight back began. Sgrimps netted his 2nd, rounding the keeper and slotting home. Shrimps
completed his hat trick from the spot after Jam was brought down in the area. Again Rangers created many chances but were
unable to convert. MOM: it was hard to name one person because everyone was poor. I will give it to Shrimps for his 3 goals
and it was his birthday this week.

Div1. Crawley green vs Risboro.
a tough pill to swallow..........
not a very exciting game but was evenly contested. Shrimps had the best chance of the 1st half when he blazed over the bar
from 8 yards out. Good build up play which deserved better. half time 0-0. Again risboro playing the better football but not
creating too much. Crawley took the lead with an unchallenged header from a corner which powered passed clarkey, very disappointing.
Lol hit the bar from a free-kick and later on bez almost got on the end of a Joel read cross. It was a game rangers should
not have lost. It was also frustrating playing against another top side who play such a direct form of football, being encouraged
to do so by the bench and having the players good enough pass the ball. MOM: Andy hird, hitting a good vein of form. |

Div1. Stoney Stratford vs Risboro.
The fans choice.......
with only a small squad available Risboro travelled to Stoney, trying to get some good form behind them that they could take
into the next few games in preparation for the final. In the opening minutes Stoney should of had a penalty when callum handballed
in the area, the ref waved play on. From that moment rangers pretty much dominated. Shrimps opened the scoring with a clinical
finish from 12 yards out. Joel read then scored a free-kick which be squeezed into the near post. Half time 0-2. Again the
2nd half was pretty much the same, rangers playing some fantastic football to control the match. Griggsy got on the score
sheet when he headed home a well delivered free kick. Full time 0-3. After the game it was good to see what the supporters
thought of the game and I was pleased to hear that they thought the same as me MOM: Bez, he again broke up play by winning
all his tackles by staying on his feet, kept the ball amazingly well with two touch passing and he won most Arial challenges.
I also thought tubby deserves a mention because I though he also had a very good game. |

Div1. Broxbourne vs Risboro.
Not enough.....
This match was a perfect test to see how far rangers had come this season playing against a high flying Broxbourne. Risboro
started the better of the sides putting the home side under pressure. Jake came closest when lol played a superb ball through
and Jake forcing the keeper to save. Half time 0-0. The 2nd half took a similar pattern but was much more evenly matched.
Unfortunately it was a dodgey bounce that wrong footed Joel on the goal line that was the difference. Risboro couldn't convert
any of the chances they made. It wasn't a great performance too many players taking it to easy. We need more!!! Full time
1-0. Mom: Bez, his 1st half performance was excellent winning the ball time and time again and starting many attacks. |

Div1 risboro vs Amersham.
Not pretty......
the last home game of the season saw Risboro take on amersham in front of over 100 supporters.
it was an extremely poor match perhaps it was to do with the affiliations between the two teams bandit turned out to be a
very cagey affair.
risboro had the better chances of the 1st half, shrimps coming close with a shot cleared off the line. Griggo opened the scoring
when a crafty touch from Danny Gray sent him clear one on one with the keeper and coolly slotted home from 12 yards out. Half
time 1-0. The 2nd half was as poor as the 1st. This time amersham had a good chance which was cleared off the line by Jack.
Full time 1-0. MOM: Andy hird, great defending and looked very sharp. |

Div 1 cup, Semi Finl. Risboro vs Kentish Town.
We made it in style..............
With an attendance of over 100 watching, Risboro turned out a performance of the highest quality. Both teams playing a good
brand of passing style football throughout. Risboro took the lead midway through the 1st half when a great move down the right
ended up with Jack being brought down for a penalty, Shrimpton stepped up to convert, continuing his rich vein of form. 1-0
half time. Risboro stepped up the pace in the 2nd half and Joel Read extended Rangers lead to 2-0 with a low driven freekick
from 20 yards. Lol made the safe when he ghosted in at the back post to slot the ball home. The final goal was scored by Griggo
who was making his come back from injury by coming as a substitute. Lol's well executed corner was powerfully struck home
from the edge of the box, giving the keeper no chance. Everyone played well tonight. Back 4 excellent and solid, Midfield
worked tirelessly, passed well and created a lot of chances. MOM: Danny Gray, most attacks were created through Dannys quick
feet and intelligent play. |

Div 1. Risboro vs Langford...
goal bonanza......
risboro took on a Langford team who should have been full of confidence after notching up two wins in a row. Risboro were
awesome from the off and dominated the entire match. 1st half goals from lol, shrimps, Sam and Jack who's amazing opener set
the standard. Half time 4-0. The 2nd was pretty much the same. 3 more goals for shrimpton, one for Danny and one for Will
ended the rout. A consolation for Langford at end end wasn't good but after scoring 9 it was easier to take. Mom: shrimpton,
4 goals! I didn't mention that lols goal was a freak! |

Div 1, risboro vs Winslow.
so close......
local rivals Winslow were the visitors at Windsors on a very cold Tuesday evening. Winslow started the better and put rangers
under pressure for a good 25 minutes, winning all 1st and 2nd balls. Eventually the pressure paid off for Winslow who's striker
scored from around 18 yards, good finish. Rangers finally woke up and started to play their normal quick tempo football. Bez
was brought down in the box and lol Clarke scored from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way. Half time 1-1. Risboro
were unlucky not to win the game when two chances for Rory, two for Sam and a couple of other chances were not converted.
Winslow didn't have any! Final score 1-1. Mom: for his 1st game back in the 1st team he did very well. Tubby. |

Div 1, Harpenden Vs Risboro.
Awful..........
I'm not going to dwell on this game too much as we did not perform to the high standards we have set over the last few games.
Perhaps tiredness played a part from Thursday nights game.
Quite an even 1st half, quite scrappy. Hertford took the lead midway through the 1st half when their striker broke the off
side trap to miss kick into the corner of the goal. Lol Clarke equalised just before the interval, the ball was played into
Sam Ward who held a defender off to set Lol up from 12 yards to fire home. Half time 1-1. The 2nd half was not good, once
Harpenden scored the 2nd gaol it looked like the majority of us gave up. Two more goals were subsequently scored. Three players
were worth a mention. Joel, Danny and Justin all put in the effort required and were unfortunate to be on the losing team.
MOM: Justin, covered a lot of ground in the middle when others went missing. |

Div 1. Kentish town vs risboro.
a win is a win.......
this was no means a spectacle but rangers did what they had to do and grind out a result. There was a very strong wind which
made it difficult to play, risboro took an early lead when will barnard got on the end an in swinging corner to head home.
Risboro maintained early pressure and shrimps made it 2-0 with a good run and shot which deflected off a defender, hit the
post and in. It seemed straight for rangers but the eager Terry Phillips made a rash challenge in the box to give Kentish
a penalty which was converted. Half time 2-1. Rangers again started the more positive creating a few half chances. Kentish
came back into the game and had a couple of good chances to equalise but clarkey pulled off a couple of good saves. Risboro
were denied a late flurry of goals with the best chance falling to shrimps who hit the bar. It wasn't a good performance and
we must improve if we are to continue our good form. It was good to see the fans (risboro ultras) taking their position behind
the goal, thanks for your support. MOM: Justin Hockley, kept the midfield together with a solid performance. |

Div 1. Risboro vs Welwyn Garden City.
A long wait........
A beautiful day with a crowd of 90 watched Risboro take on Welwyn, a team in 3rd position who are the top scorers in the league,
averaging almost 4 goals per game. The 1st half was a battle, very even, Welwyn probably had the best chance when a ricochet
fell in the path of the Welwyn striker but luckily blazed over. Risboro took a hold of the game creating a few half chances,
the calls from the pitch from the Welwyn players were how to try to contain Risboro rather than how to break us down. half
time 0-0. The 2nd half was very much like the 1st, both teams trading blows in the midfield. Cometh the hour cometh the man,
10 minutes from time, Andy Austin with a long throw launch the ball into the area and Jamie Roberts with a perfectly timed
power header in to the top corner to win the match. full time 1-0. A great all round team performance, MOM: Jambo, who could
deny him the award with a goal like that. You need to sort out your goal celebration the "superman shirt opening" was awful! |

Div 1, Risboro vs Sun Postal.
Revenge?.....
After a credible draw against Southall Risboro were looking for revenge against possibly the best team in the league, Sun
Postal. The match began at a real pace, which continued for 90 minutes. Risboro probably had the most chances but failed to
convert. Sun Postal took a 1-0 lead with the last kick of the half. Not sure where the 2 minutes of stoppage time came from
considering the referee gave no free kicks to either side. 0-1 half time. Risboro started the 2nd half on top and pressed
for an equaliser. Will came close after a good cross from Joel, Jake had a chance, also other chances fell to Risboro but
we could not get a break! 10 minutes from time Sun Postal wrapped up the game with a scrappy goal score inside the 6 yard
box. Once again it was the long ball team that triumphed. With all the good players at Sun Postal's disposal it is a shame
that they are not encouraged to play a more attractive passing style. On the other hand who can complain about the tactics
when they are top of the league. Its a question for the fans to answer! Will and Justin played very well in the midfield.
Jam and Terry looked good, as well as Callum who almost got the award. MOM: for me this player defended, attacked, he got
us out troubled with his powerful running with the ball, he was always probing with his intricate passing, he won freekicks
and he kept Risboro's possession ticking over nicely. Well played Bez. |
